Daytona 500 & Virtualization

I'm sitting in front of the TV waiting for the Daytona 500 race to start (the 'Superbowl' of Nascar racing) and root for #55 Michael Waltrip in the Toyota / Napa car. While waiting for the start I'm surfing the web and figure I'll drop in on some of the sites of our Windows Embedded Partners (WEPs) to see if anything new is going on.

One of the WEPs I visited was AVNET when I stumbled across a podcast they've posted explaining Virtualization & Consolidation [mp3]. In this podcast, Avnet explains some of the facts and dispels myths of virtualization. For instance, it's all about 'containment' to deal with challenges like spiraling energy and consumption costs, not to mention under-utilized servers. In all, it boils down to helping you do more with less, especially with increased regulation and shrinking IT budgets.

The target audience for this podcast tutorial would be IT departments, it's not very technical but makes a good primer to the Virtualization technology. Microsoft also has tons of information on the subject, check out our virtualization portal for solutions or these case studies.
