Event Overview

Background

Welcome to the monthly public sector developer dinner event. For the next several months, we will focus on SharePoint 2010 Development starting January 2011. If you are interested in presenting a topic, please let us know. This session will highlight several techniques of extending Microsoft Office to build custom applications that interact with SharePoint 2010. The techniques covered will leverage Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office and the Open XML SDK to build applications that seamlessly stand on top of the Office desktop applications and a SharePoint server infrastructure. This talk will include demonstrations and code walkthroughs that will highlight best practices, design patterns, and more importantly what not to do. We will build new Office interfaces, merge data and documents, and even completely automate the generation of documents on the server.
