Det er mange som spør om en oversikt i kortversjon på hva som er nytt i CRM 2011. Nedenfor er en kortfattet engelsk beskrivelse som dere kan bruke inntil vi får noe mer offisielt materiale tilgjengelig:
Familiar Experience and Productivity Enhancements:
Microsoft Office® Fluent UI experience: provides a user experience that is consistent with established Microsoft Office applications – such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SharePoint Server. This new user experience design paradigm is intended to simplify navigation and simplify the completion of routine work actions – such as record creation, work assignment, and process automation.
Enhanced Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Outlook: provides enriched Outlook experience for Microsoft Dynamics CRM users – with native Microsoft Outlook views, commands, and formatting of key CRM information. In addition, CRM users will now be able to access multiple CRM applications from a single user experience – providing unified access to multiple line of business applications all from inside Microsoft Office Outlook.
RoleTailored™ Forms and Views: optimize the user experience for distinct user roles within an organization. This new capability allows businesses to define multiple forms per entity, secure forms to native Microsoft Dynamics CRM security roles, and design forms for mobile devices all through a new drag and drop configuration experience.
Enhanced personalization: allows business users to personalize the Microsoft Dynamics CRM user interface by providing each user with the ability to personalize data views, pin favorite records and views to their workspace, and set navigation preferences that are most relevant to their job task or role.
Field Level Security: enables business managers and executives to establish security access rules and profiles for CRM entity data attributes – ensuring that only the right individuals can view, modify and access secure information within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
CRM Enhancements for Microsoft Office® Excel: combines the real-time export to Excel capabilities with the ability to add, edit and import information from Excel spreadsheets into Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Streamlined user interface: reduces the number of pop-up windows, keystrokes, mouse-clicks and the number of open forms required to manage work within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Custom Activity Types: allows organizations to define custom activity types to track and manage specific work units within Microsoft Dynamics CRM relevant to a particular business group or function. Such activity types might include: a Credit Check activity type within Financial Services organizations, a Chat activity type for real-time instant message interactions, and a Status Update activity type for integrating into Social Networking and micro-blogging sites.
Re-occurring appointments: enables businesses to establish reoccurring meetings or events within Microsoft Dynamics CRM to track ongoing sales, service or marketing engagement.
Dynamic Marketing Lists: equips organizations with the ability to target, segment and query groups of customers within Microsoft Dynamics CRM based on data attributes and system events.
Intelligent Experience and Analytics Enhancements
Real-time Analytics Dashboards: provide real-time presentation and consumption of business intelligence within Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Dashboards can be personalized, shared and extended through an enhanced point and click designer provided for business professionals.
Guided Business Processes: delivers new Dialog interfaces for managing business processes within Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Dialogs can be utilized to standardize process steps, streamline data input and page flow across entities and invoke custom business logic to connect Microsoft Dynamics CRM across external applications. Process Dialogs are URL-addressable, meaning they can be called and consumed from external applications or solutions within your environment.
Inline Data Visualizations: equips business professionals with seamless access to business intelligence from system views for at-a-glance insight on key business performance indicators. Data visualizations can be added to any data list view and form within Microsoft Dynamics CRM through a new point-and-click interface designed for everyday system users. Data visualizations provide analytic drill-downs and real-time filtering to get to the source of key business drivers.
Flexible Goal Management: provides the ability to measure and analyze attainment of organizational goals. Goals can be defined for any period of time and can focus on revenue or count-based targets for an organization, business unit, team or individual.
Conditional Data Formatting: a key enhancement to Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook is the ability to define conditional formatting rules for data presentation within Microsoft Office Outlook. Business users now have the ability to specify record formatting conditions in order to provide visual differentiation within a list of information. Users can define custom conditions for data formatting through the native Microsoft Outlook experience – such as highlighting escalated Cases with red text or changing the font and font size of high-value sales opportunities.
Enhanced Queue Management: now provide the ability to assign any business entity to a CRM queue – extending queue management across the full range of Sales, Service and Marketing entities and activities. In addition, Queue Management now provides work-in-progress management – allowing businesses users to manage workloads more effectively from within the queue.
Business Data Auditing: allows businesses to define system-wide or entity-level data auditing rules to track changes of key data elements within a CRM system entity. Organizations can create auditing rules and notifications to ensure that all team members are informed and aware of key data changes made to business information.
Connected Experiences

Organizations can now leverage this new capability to define connection roles and create connections across a more comprehensive set of CRM entities and activities.
Contextual Microsoft SharePoint® documents: provides the ability to link contextual SharePoint document libraries with CRM entities – enabling business users to manage customer information and content in a single user experience.

Each enhancements further simplifies and accelerated development time of custom applications – without the need to write complex code.
Solution Management: providing a framework for application “packages” (referred to as Solutions) to run on Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Solutions allow components to be layered on to the base system but also on top of other solutions – allowing your organization to run multiple applications on a single Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment. Solutions also provide versioning and protection capabilities to ensure that un-planned changes are not made to an application.
Cloud and On-Premises Solution Development: delivers enhanced capabilities around profiling, tracing and isolation levels to ensure that custom solution applications and plug-ins run securely and efficiently. With this new platform capability, solution developers will now be able to leverage the platform components and integration plug-ins within Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online environments.
