IE7, Vista and RSS: 'We will only support feeds that are well-formed XML'
In the context of discussing IE7 and Window Vista, the Microsoft RSS team declares:
"We will only support feeds that are well-formed XML."
Technorati's Nial Kennedy likes the move:
"I think it is a good move and saves a lot of development headaches. Feed publishers should periodically check their feeds using tools such as Feed Validator to discover any potential problems and evaluate some of problems revealed by warning messages. Errors in your feed might result in your message not being delivered to your readers."
Nick Bradbury (of FeedDemon and NewsGator) gives a thumbs up too, who writes in the post's comments:

This is insanity. This is the stupidest thing to ever discuss. If you don't writing proper C#, it won't compile! If you don't write proper XML, it BETTER NOT work! If you don't write proper XHTML, my GOSH, I wish it wouldn't work. We have to start making good programmers instead of these HTML/Table hacker "web developers" we have today.
Technology in general needs to be well formed, or it does not comform to the definition of that technology. Give me somethign with <adsf> all over it and it it looks like <span><div></span></div>. Guess what! That's not XML! Sure looks like it though... A good way to get fired is to write something like that code.
