Task plans
With the Task plans functionality, project managers can access practical, AI-generated task plan suggestions. The functionality provides recommended durations and effort for each task, helping you expedite project creation. The Task plans functionality uses machine learning algorithms, particularly natural language processing that's powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. It scrutinizes the project name and description to formulate tasks, which the project manager can adjust as needed.
The project manager or designated user must enter the project name if they want the Task plans functionality to generate suggested task plans for a project. The specificity and relevance of the tasks improve with the inclusion of extra details in the project description.
Select New project on the Projects command bar.
Enter the name of the project in the Name field and a description of the project in the Description field.
Enter the Estimated start date and Finish date.
Note
If you don't enter an estimated start date, Copilot uses the project creation date and time as the estimated start date.
Enter Owning company and then select Save.
Select Copilot in the command bar and then select Task plan.
All tasks that AI creates for you have suggested by AI as the label. Your organization can customize the tasks to align them with the specific requirements of the project.
AI-Powered Work Breakdown Structure Generation
Creating a task breakdown structure or project plan is often the most time-consuming step in project creation. While established organizations benefit from best practices built into project plan templates, newer teams may struggle due to a lack of experience and predefined structures.
Generative AI simplifies this process by automatically generating a work breakdown structure based on a natural language description of the project. This allows you to quickly produce a hierarchical task structure with estimated durations, reducing the learning curve and streamlining project planning. You can then refine the plan by adding, removing, or modifying tasks, adjusting durations, and setting dependencies, providing a solid starting point for effective project execution.
