To open a command prompt, click Start, point to All programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command prompt.
To perform this procedure on a local computer, you must have user rights to shut down the computer. To perform this procedure on a remotely managed computer, you must have the user rights to force a shutdown from a remote system.
- You can set the time-out period before a restart or shutdown to nnn seconds using the /tnnn option. The valid range is from 0 through –600 seconds, with a default of 30 seconds.
- You cannot cancel a restart or shutdown using the Shutdown Event Tracker user interface (UI). It is possible to perform this task only from the command line.
