Replmon UI

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

The Replmon graphical user interface tool was removed from Windows Server 2008 and later. Repadmin is still available for troubleshooting replication. For more information on using Repadmin, see Monitoring and Troubleshooting Active Directory Replication Using Repadmin and Getting Over Replmon.

Replmon UI

ReplMon has the following menus:

File Menu

File menu options:

Option Description

Open Script

Opens a dialog box that populates the Active Directory Replication Monitor with monitored servers. These files have an .ini extension and can be created by using a text editor or by using the Save Monitored List As command in the File menu.

Save Monitored List As

Opens a dialog box that saves a list of monitored servers in an .ini file. This list can be opened later by using the Open Script command on the File menu. If the current user does not have permission to monitor a server listed, then a user name must be supplied after ServerName, using the Domain\User format. Do not supply the password in the .ini file. The password is requested as each server is added to the monitored list when the .ini file is read.

Open Log

Opens a previously created .log file. Log files are created by default for every monitored server, and statistics are tracked on a per-replication partner and per-directory partition basis.

Exit

Closes ReplMon and discontinues monitoring servers.

Edit Menu

Edit menu options:

Option Description

Add Monitored Server

Opens a dialog box that adds a single server to the list of servers monitored by ReplMon. By default, ReplMon does not monitor any servers. If you know the name of the server, click Add the server explicitly by name, and then type the name of the server. If you need to browse for the server, click Search the directory for the server to add, and then click Next. The entire forest can be searched if necessary. Enter a user name and password by selecting the Use Alternate Credentials checkbox.

Action Menu

The Action menu includes the Domain, Server, Site, Naming Context, and Replication Partner submenus.

Domain submenu option:

Triggers an immediate status check for the selected server. The time of the updated status is logged and displayed.

Check Replication Topology

Triggers the Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) to recalculate the replication topology for the selected server.

Synchronize Each Directory Partition with All Servers

Triggers replication for the selected server's directory partitions with each partition's replication partners.

Generate Status Report

Creates and saves a status report for the selected server. When you select this option, the Save As dialog box appears. In the Save As dialog box, you can name the status report. To select the information that should be on the status report, select Report Options.

Show Domain Controllers in Domain

Opens a dialog box that lists all of the domain controllers that belong to the selected server's domain. To close this dialog box, click OK.

Show Replication Topologies
