How to: Change Permissions for a Group or User

You can explicitly change permissions for a user or group for a project, or on all your Team Foundation Server. To change permissions to a group, you must have read/write permission to the group.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Team Foundation Administrators group or have the Edit Server-Level Information permission set to Allow. For more information about permissions, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To change permissions for a group or user

  1. In Team Explorer, select the team project that the group is in, or to change permissions for a server-level group, select the Team Foundation Server that the group is in.

  2. From the Team menu, point to Team Project Settings, and then click Security, or to change permissions for a server-level group, point to Team Foundation Server Settings, and then click Security.

  3. Use one of the following methods:

    1. For team project groups, in Project Security, select the group or user for which you want to change permissions.

    2. For server-level groups, in Global Security, select the group or user for which you want to change permissions.

  4. Under Permissions for group or user name, select the permission that you want to change, select the Allow column to grant that permission, or select the Deny column to deny the permission.

    Note

  5. Click Close.
