Start Page
The Start Page provides an easy way to access or create projects, learn about upcoming product releases and conferences, or read the latest development articles. To access the Start Page, on the View menu, select Other Windows and then click Start Page.
Note
The options available in dialog boxes, and the names and locations of menu commands you see, might differ from what is described in Help depending on your active settings or edition. To change your settings, click Import and Export Settings on the Tools menu. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

Recent Projects |
Displays a list of recently updated projects, lets you create new projects and open existing projects. |
Getting Started |
Displays a list of Help topics, Web sites, technical articles, and other sources designed to increase your productivity and highlight features in the product. The topic list changes, depending on the settings that you have applied. For more information, see Working with Settings. |
<product> Headlines |
Displays links to product and event information from Microsoft. If you have not selected the option Download content every <n> minutes in the Startup, Environment, Options Dialog Box, this section does not contain links. |
<news> |
By default, displays a list of articles from the RSS feed specified by the settings that you have applied. You can specify a custom RSS feed in the Startup, Environment, Options Dialog Box. For a list of available MSDN RSS feeds, see RSS Feeds on the MSDN Web site. If you have chosen not to enable RSS content to be downloaded, a message appears in the <news> section with information about how to enable RSS content. Note If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server that requires that you be authenticated, a message may appear, in the <news> section, that requests you to enter your user name and password. Once you have entered this information, you can view the articles available through your selected RSS feed. |
