Creating a CAB File
Cabinet (.cab) files are compressed packages that contain several related files. For information about CAB files, see Cabinet File Reference in the Windows SDK documentation. This document describes how to obtain the MakeCAB command-line tool, which you can use to create CAB files.
The MakeCAB tool is installed as part of the Cabinet SDK. Also included in the Cabinet SDK is a manual, MakeCAB.doc, that describes the format and parameters for MakeCAB commands, the format for directive (or DDF) files, and the content for setup.inf files. Setup.inf files are generated by MakeCAB and are used by setup.exe to extract the contents of CAB files.
