To define a new diagram

  1. In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the project or connect to the database that contains the data source view in which you want to define a new diagram.

  2. In Solution Explorer, expand the Data Source Views folder, then open the data source view in Data Source View Designer by doing one of the following:

    • Double-click the data source view.
    • Right-click the data source view and click Open.
    • Click the data source view and then on the View menu, click Open.
  3. Define a name for a new diagram by doing one of the following:

    • Right-click anywhere in the Diagram Organizer pane, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.
    • On the Data Source View menu, click New Diagram, and then type a name for the new diagram in the Diagram Organizer pane.

A blank diagram appears in the Diagram pane.

  4. Add tables, views, and named queries from the Tables pane to the new diagram by doing one of the following:

    • Drag selected tables from the Tables pane into the empty Diagram pane.
    • Right-click an open area of the Diagram pane, click Show Tables, select one or more tables to display in the Diagram pane and click OK.
    • On the Data Source View menu, click Show Tables, select one or more tables to display in the Diagram pane and click OK.
    • Right-click a table in the Diagram pane, and then click Show Related Tables.
    • Click a table in the Diagram pane, and then click Show Related Tables.
