Opening Active Directory Users and Computers

Topic Last Modified: 2009-05-22

Use the following procedure to open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in on a computer on which the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 administrative tools are installed:

To open Active Directory Users and Computers

  1. Log on as a member of the RTCUniversalUserAdmins group, or an account with equivalent privileges, to an Enterprise Edition server or a server that is a member of an Active Directory domain and has the Office Communications Server administrative tools installed.

    Note

The RTCUniversalUserAdmins group is created when you prepare the forest prior to deployment of Office Communications Server 2007 R2. You can choose to add unauthorized users or groups to this administration group, or you can delegate user administration. By delegating user administration, you can grant a user or group the subset of permissions that are required to administer a specific set of Office Communications Server users. For details about delegating permissions, see Delegating Office Communications Server Setup and Administration in Preparing Active Directory Domain Services for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 in the Deployment documentation. For details about the accounts created for administration of Office Communications Server and other information about accounts and permissions, see Active Directory Domain Services Reference in the Preparing Active Directory Domain Services for Office Communications Server 2007 R2 documentation.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
    • If Active Directory Users and Computers is not available from the Start menu, click Start, click Run, type dsa.msc, and then click OK.
