Document

Design document pages when you want to represent a transaction or other important event in the domain of business. Document pages are the computerized counterpart to paper-based documents (quotes, invoices, orders, etc.), and as such, document pages often have associated workflow or audit trail requirements.

Document page guidelines

From the user’s perspective, the following are the qualities of a well-designed document page:

  • Is used only for data that represent a transaction or other important event in the domain of business.

  • Has a page title that clearly identifies the transaction/event represented in the page.

  • Is optimized for overview by organizing data in FastTabs and marking relevant fields as Promoted or Additional.

  • Favors header fields and other important fields by placing them in a General FastTab that comes first on the page.

  • Has a Lines FastTab that comes second on the page showing a grid with the document lines.

  • Includes one or two FactBoxes to give essential statistics and quick access to related documents.
