Optimized "is one of" filtering experience

Important

The "is one of" filtering operator is available for most fields when using the Filter Pane and grid header drop-down lists. This operator allows a user to filter a field based on multiple, different values. A new and improved experience for the "is one of" operator is available in Platform update 22 and will be mandatory in April 2020 with 10.0.9/Platform update 33. To better understand the improvements, consider the following images.

This image shows the "is one of" filtering experience prior to Platform update 22.

The optimized "is one of" filtering experience includes the following enhancements:

  1. Easier to enter multiple filter values

With the new experience, fewer keystrokes are needed to enter multiple filter values. You enter filter values from a single input field. Once the value is set (by pressing Enter, leaving the field, or selecting a value from a lookup), the filter value is transitioned into a read-only control and the input box is cleared for the next value to be entered. This is much faster than having to press an Add button and tab to a new field for each filter value you need to enter.

Additionally, you can type multiple, comma-separated values directly into the input field, or paste in a list copied from Excel.

  2. More compact and intuitive visualization of filter values

The new visual representation of the filter values for the "is one of" operator is more compact, and has rounded corners. This gives the user more room to see other filters in the Filter Pane.

  3. Simpler mechanism to remove individual or all filter values

The optimized "is one of" filtering experience also provides a one-click mechanism for clearing filter values. Each control contains an x button that can be used to remove a single filter value from the list. There is also a Clear all button that clears the list of filter values for that field.

Enabling the optimized "is one of" filtering experience

With Platform update 22, the optimized "is one of" filtering experience is turned off by default, but a system administrator can enable it for an environment. To turn this feature on, navigate to the Client performance options page under System administration and find the Optimized "is one of" filtering experience switch.
