Microsoft Pakistan launched BizSpark Camp in Karachi

Innovation and entrepreneurship is the backbone of the IT software industry. Microsoft and its partners including P@SHA, TiE and TAN organized an event at Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) in Karachi to launch BizSpark Camp.
BizSpark is a new program which is specifically designed to help high-potential startups connect with latest technological trends in the world. As part of this program, Microsoft will not only give access to licensed software, training and visibility, but also enables startup companies to transform their initial business idea into a software product. The BizSparkCamp program is an extension of Microsoft’s BizSpark initiative, which provides free software, training and visibility to startups.
The event started with recitation of Holy Quran followed by a Welcome speech by Mr. Naveed Bajwa, Developer and Platform Group Manager at Microsoft Pakistan. Naveed highlighted the importance of this program and briefed the audience about Microsoft commitment to support local software industry specially start up companies through various initiatives including BizSpark.
Mr. Talha Mehmood, Manager Microsoft Innovation Center, then conducted a brief presentation on BizSpark Program and explained to audience about program details. Talha mentioned that in follow-up to this launch event, Microsoft will conduct hands-on training on Windows Modern Application Development in Islamabad and Karachi.
After Talha’s session, an overview session on Windows 7 Multi-touch Platform was delivered by Zafar Ul-Islam, Enterprise Technology Strategist, Microsoft Pakistan. Zafar’s briefed the audience on various new features and capabilities of Windows 7 Multi-touch platform and explained how ISVs and developers can leverage these enhancements to build modern applications with rich and interactive UI. Zafar demonstrated various multi-touch application to the audience and mentioned that multi-touch capable hardware is available from various vendors.
In the end Mr. Azhar Rizvi from Technology Angel Network (TAN) shared his views on the subject and highlighted to the audience the new business opportunities which Multi-touch platform brings to them.
Audience appreciated Microsoft Pakistan’s efforts to organize such events and enabling them to learn about exciting new technologies and business opportunities.
