TechNet Guru Awards - May 2013
The votes are in! And below are the results for the TechNet Guru Awards, May 2013 .
The TechNet Guru Awards celebrate the technical articles on TechNet, contributed from valued wiki authors like YOU!
Each month, the contributions are scored by a panel of judges, and the winners of each category are showered with love and attention from all corners of TechNet.
See the links at the bottom, to find out more about the competition and how to enter.
We have picked the top three highest scored contributions for each category to bestow our awards upon.
The awards are in gold, silver and bronze, the gold obviously being the top winner of the category.
The last column is a few of the comments judges made during the judging process.
My fellow wiki ninjas will be digging deeper into some of these articles in this blog series, so watch out for those. Also, I will be printing more extracts from the comments we received, in future posts.
A big thank you also to the other authors who did not make the top three of each category.
Some articles only just missed out, so we will be returning to discuss those too.

A great big thanks to EVERYONE who contributed an article to the wiki in May.
Hopefully we will see you ALL again in the June lists.
If you have not yet contributed an article for June, and you think you can produce a more useful, clever and better produced wiki article than the winners above, here's your chance! :D
Best regards,
Pete Laker

Guys, quick question. Are you able to annonymise the feedback for authors on articles that didn't win? I'd like to submit some articles for June onwards but would appreciate what I may have not have gotten correct, or if the information was deemed irrlevant and so on. Cheers, StevenAnonymous
June 12, 2013
Oh, and of course, a big congratulations to the winners. Well done to all. Some educational stuff in my own category!Anonymous
June 12, 2013
@Steven: We have considered this as well. Our intention is not to criticise submissions, but to celebrate what is good about them. Also, as this is TechNet Wiki, anyone is able to edit the article, to help improve the actual content, which slightly complicates matters. But that is how I suspect any mistakes will be handled. Regards, PeteAnonymous

Steven, an exercise I recommend is to go through all the positive comments that were not about your articles... and take those into consideration. You'll see themes that everyone should follow.Anonymous

I have a few questions:
- How can I post a blog here? I see several community members posting blogs, so I assume everyone can create a blog, right? If yes, how?
- What exactly this winning means in terms of points, achievements, etc.?
Anonymous
June 13, 2013
I have the same question like Naomi too :)Anonymous
June 13, 2013
- Mostly only Microsoft employees can blog on http://blogs.technet.com. However, the TechNet Wiki has a team of bloggers, but we only blog about the Wiki, not our own exploits. blogs.technet.com/.../wikininjas Wiki bloggers are chosen by invite, so you should let Ed know you're interested, and join the queue.
- Winning means what it says on the entry page "One winner in each category will be selected each month for glory and adoration by the MSDN/TechNet Ninjas and community as a whole. This includes a dedicated blog post in the Wiki Ninjas blog, a tweet from the Wiki Ninjas Twitter account, an announcement on your forum, and other acknowledgement from the community." This should be enough for 'bragging rights', so to speak... As this is such a new initiative, it is unclear at this stage if and how it can be integrated into the recognition system (points, medals, etc) Regards, Pete
