App-V & SoftGrid - Three Errors When Virtualizing GroupWise
I was chatting to Madelinde Walraven (who is one of the legends in the GTSC EMEA). She was telling me about a case that she had been working on around a customer sequencing group wise and having a number of errors! She found a great solutions with some peers. I thought this sounds cool and asked her to send it over to spread her findings!
When sequencing GroupWise with SoftGrid or App-V, GroupWise gets three application-specific errors when launched on a SoftGrid/App-V client. The errors reference the following GroupWise objects:
- Novell System Address Book (SAB)
- Novell Personal Address Book (PAB)
- Novell LDAP Address Book
The error gives us the following information:
Internal Error - The Novell LDAP Address Book can only be run from the Windows System directory. Running from any other directory is not supported and may yield unpredictable results. Do you want to run it from directory 'Q:\Appname\VFS\CSIDL_SYSTEM' anyway?
When choosing yes three times, the applications continues to work. The errors will come back each time the application is launched.
The resolution for this is to add the following OSD flag to the OSD (Between the VIRTUALENV tags):
<POLICIES>
<SXS_32_ENABLED>TRUE</SXS_32_ENABLED>
</POLICIES>
This is applicable for 4.1 and 4.5 so hopefully this will really help a number of customers out there!

I am having this issue with GroupWise 7 and App-v 4.5. Which OSD does this get added to? I've tried both the Address book OSD and GroupWise OSD.
