Flushing them out of the walls...it's finally time to upgrade to 2005!

It's interesting how many companies are suddenly interested in upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to 2005. I can understand a legacy third party application that requires 2000 for compatibility. But many of these situations involve custom apps that would upgrade with little or no effort. There's a light year or two or three between 2000 and 2005. It's hard for me to see the justification whether monetary or other that keeps old software around. Some entities are making the leap directly to 2008, which might not be a bad idea.

I'm curious what other people's take is on this? Is it Microsoft's end-of-life that caught up with SQL Server 200 last month? Is it miserly corporate policies? Are there still some folks out there who are still waiting for another service pack to come out before they upgade?
