True FSX Planes
In another excellent thread on sim-outhouse.com, DennyA has collected a list of planes along with their type ( payware, freeware ), source, and compat notes here.
I have to say, informative threads with great details like this are worth a lot to the community. Nice work!

Interesting. I think the issue of aircraft compatibility with FSX needs some attention. I own a Wilco/Feelgood Boeing 777, which is FSX compatible according to the creators, but its navigation systems appear to be incompatible with FSX. The navigational lines on the ND do not match up with those on FSX's GPS display. And it's impossible to fly the straight lines on the ND in actual straight lines, you (or the autopilot in HNAV mode) constantly have to correct to stay on them. My suspicion is that the aircraft systems are not aware of FSX's round earth model. So much for FSX compatibility. Sorry for using this blog to vent. :)Anonymous

Sven, that is Wilco's issue, I would use their forums to discuss with them.Anonymous

Yeah, I know, I'm sorry. I was in a bad mood yesterday. I know this isn't the place for such commentary. In something completely unrelated (which I hope you won't mind answering if you happen to know), the most recent episode of Mythbusters showed a NASA flight simulator and it was clear that the graphics they were using in the displays in the control room outside the simulator were FSX based (they even showed a "images courtesy of Microsoft" notice). Is that simulator using any FS code? Is it just the visualization or anything of the flight engine as well?Anonymous

Sven: That is likely the ESP scenario at work, the FSX engine being used in a commercial environment.
