Thanks for the heads up.... Well, this plus nVidia (beta) 169.21 (WHQL candidate) drivers have made a difference system wise. Let's see how things go with highend hardware upgraded VGA cards when they are released.

Phil, thank you very much, for your last blog entries! But, is it really safe, to install the RC? I will try the RC for Vista 64 and i hope it will work :) BTW, Nvidia has released a new beta driver (169.25)^^

Cartman: as with any RC, each user has to decide.

This is true and i'm glad about my decision :) Little status report: Vista SP1RC Tested with the 169.25 beta drivers, Vista64, and FSXA. Everything feels smoother and faster (Vista and FSX) and the flickering of the effects (landing lights) is gone. Only the flickering on airports still exists (taxiway/runway - e.g. KORD), but if i'm flying, DX10 is perfect. It's really hard to switch back to DX9. I disabled Vsync in the FSX.cfg (ForceFullScreenVSync=false and ForceVSync=false in the "Display" section and in the NV driver), what helped also in DX10 mode. For me, SP1 seems to be a good and solid improvement of Vista - thanks for the hint!
