Pro Photo Tools / Canon RAW Codec Issue
by Jeff Greene /
Some users of Microsoft Pro Photo Tools may be experiencing problems when trying to make changes to their Canon RAW files.
Shortly after the release of Microsoft Pro Photo Tools, Canon updated its RAW codec to Version 1.3. Unfortunately, we have found the problem with Canon's latest codec version 1.3 that it does not support writing EXIF data back into a raw file (CR2 or CRW). This causes Pro Photo Tools to report an error when a user attempts to save changes to a Canon RAW file. We are working with Canon to find an appropriate solution and We will update our website (www.microsoft.com/prophoto) and post a blog entry when that solution becomes available.
We apologize for causing the inconvenience.

I wish MS wud license some most common WIC codecs from Lead Technologies and provide them for free. For formats such as PSD, JPEG2000, EMF, WMF, OpenEXR, etc etc.
