Deliver better video with IIS Smooth Streaming
IIS Smooth Streaming is one of those “wow” technologies – watch the video and you get a real sense of just how dramatic a difference it can make to the user experience for media delivered over the web.
I’ve put together a short video showing how easy it is to get started creating and delivering content with IIS Smooth Streaming. This takes you through a condensed version of the why, how and what do I need to do of Smooth Streaming. If you want to try it for yourself you’ll need either IIS 7.0 or 7.5 (so Windows Vista, 7 or Server 2008), Expression Encoder 3 with Smooth Streaming (unfortunately the trial download doesn’t support Smooth Streaming) and Silverlight for the Smooth Streaming enabled player.
Here's the links to the resources I reference in the video.
- https://bit.ly/smoothstr - .net magazine article on IIS Smooth Streaming
- https://bit.ly/experienceit – Smooth Streaming demo site
- https://bit.ly/sl_net – Silverlight.net site
- https://bit.ly/web_pi – download the web platform installer for easy configuration of IIS and media services
I need to work on a way of hosting Smooth Streaming enabled videos for embedding in my blog posts….
