What's the difference between this site and Informit? Which one should we choose to buy Microsoft Press' books?

You can purchase from either store. Our store will feature only Microsoft Press products.

I only hope we see another promotion when the next waves of books are scheduled to come out in June and August.

Er, I meant July, not June.

I just tested this code out on pre-release orders, and it works for eBooks. They hard copy option is not there yet. %40 off eBooks isn't bad, but if you have an eReference or Safari account, you are buying the same product twice.

@Jason PK Krause - can you email me at "email the blog author" at the top of the blog? We'd like to help you. We're not seeing the same problem, but perhaps you've found a bug. -Kim

    Two questions:

  1. I randomly clicked on several books to view the product details. I no longer noticed anything on the pages about (the horrendous) watermarking anymore. Is this still being done? I have a small hope that it is not... but if it is please make sure that the pages clearly state this.
  2. I created an account. There is a place to register your previously purchased books. In addition to actual paper books, is it appropriate / acceptable to also register MSPress books that were previously purchased via O'Reilly as well?

If you click on the "Includes EPUB, MOBI, PDF" link under the eBook's order button, you'll get a "About eBook Formats" window that says:

This eBook requires no passwords or activation to read. We customize your eBook by discretely watermarking it with your name, making it uniquely yours.

Of course, it's possible that this doesn't apply to all eBooks, but it's been on each of the random selections I looked at. I haven't found the watermarking to be 'horrendous', but that's a matter of opinion.
