How to disable the shutdown event tracker in Windows Server 2008

1) Open the group policy editor. Start->run->gpedit.msc

2) Navigate to Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System

3) Edit the "Display Shutdown Event Tracker" setting and select Disabled.

    So would this disable the prompt users receive if the server has been shutdown due to power loss, or a hard reset? When our users (using terminal services) logon after a server crash and hard reset by us, they all get the prompt asking why the server was shutdown unexpectedly.

    It would have been nice if John would have answered Daniel's question so he and now I wouldn't have to keep searching.

    Yeah same. I think from what I understand of GP that it would do that, I'm applying it at the moment to a terminal server.

    I don't want to completely disable the Tracker, because it acts as an extra little trip wire to prevent unintended shutdowns. But Like everyone else, I am looking for a way to prevent RDS users from seeing it.
