I have tried all the fixes with no luck. I do not see the Windows Installer in Services but I do see Windows Modules Installer. Is this the same thing? If not how do you get windows installer reinstalled where it shows in Services? Any help would be appreciated.Anonymous

For .MSI applications that appear to have trouble installing, the downloadble FIXIT "widget" is a .MSI application that's supposed to fix the .MSI install problems? Really?!?! That's like a troubleshooting a STALLED vehicle--by having the owner DRIVE it around a few miles!!!! Or, (my personal favorite), "Having INTERNET CONNECTION problems? Just visit microsoft's web site for technical support!!!" Would you, by any chance, have this FIXIT "widget", in a .EXE or .COM or .ZIP format?Anonymous

I have tried 3 of the 4 fixes for this problem and none work. When tried the fix-it method I got the same message. In services (local) windows installer is not listed but windows module installer is. It was stopped so started and still no help. I cannot install updates or any other programs. Cannot not uninstall anything either. Starting to think Apple!Anonymous

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInstaller and confirm that: InstallerLocation points to C:Windowssystem32 MsiExecCA32 points to C:Windowssyswow64msiexec.exe MsiExecCa64 points to C:Windowssystem32msiexec.exe On my machine, both MsiExecCA32 and MsiExecCA64 were pointing to the system32 folder. Once I modified MsiExecCA32 to point to syswow64 and rebooted, the installer worked just fine.Anonymous

Try " Long Path Tool " is also useful in situations where you see these error messages: Cannot read from source file or disk, there has been a sharing violation, cannot delete file or folder, the file name you specified is not valid or too long, the source or destination file may be in use and many other file managing errors that you encounter in your computing use.Anonymous
