Move to Windows 8.1 or stay on Windows 8? Move to VS 2013 or stay on VS 2012?
I would recommend anyone reading this blog make the move on a “non-production” computer immediately. I have transitioned my “production” machine and surface RT, and I am not having any problems. Ok, the SurfaceRT seems to have a connection problem with my WiFi when I am downstairs in the livingroom, but otherwise works fine. My Lenovo Twist has had no problem at all.
Any other problems?
- Yep, The DirectX App in VS 2013 Preview seem to be quite a bit different that the one in VS 2012, at least with respect to the HLSL modules, kind of weird. Some of the VC++ based apps don’t work if they use DirectX. But that might just be a temporary problem.
Any goodies?
- Oh heck yeah!
- Super cool snap, or multi windows as some writers state
- Better Charm settings
- FAST
- IE11 is FAST, in fact I don’t sneak over to Chrome now
- Camera access from the lock screen, WARNING, be careful if you read this in certain rooms of the house, you might take pictures that you really didn’t want too.
- Xbox Radio, similar to other Radio programs
- Skydrive
- Hero Search (more on this later, but it’s cool)
- Keyboard changes, more later with video!
