New MICROSOFT Line Of Business BizTalk 2006 Adapters!

Excellent!!! I am at TechReady at the moment, our annual internal MS technical event here in Seattle and I attended a session yesterday by our V.P. for BPI. He announced some great news that we (Microsoft) will be releasing new Line of Business Adapters for BizTalk 2006. The public announcement was released today! The adpaters are;

PeopleSoft
Siebel
Oracle Apps
JDEdwards
Clarify
TIBCO Rendezvous
TIBCO JMS (EMS)
Oracle DB
SAP (was an existing Microsoft adapter but also available in BTS 2006)

That now means that these adapters will be owned by MS and form part of our adapter portfolio directly. Awesome!

    Hi Magali,
Now that's an interesting question :-) In fact, you can actually download the BizTalk 2006 Beta 2 enterprise adapters for testing from the microsoft betaplace site http://beta.microsoft.com . When you install the adpaters, there are some pdf's with the adapter's but as you would imagine the documentation is very subject to change considering its Beta 2. I downloaded recently for the JD Enterprise One Adapter... and the oracle ones are there too. Let me know if this helps.

    Hi Chris,

I have just been told that we may need to integrate our solution (includes Biztalk) with a customers JMS system (I understand it is the IBM implementation). This is the first time I have even heard of JMS - will the TIBCO JMS adaptor help us out?

    Thanks

    Darren,
The new Tibco Adapter supports sending and receiving messages from an EMS server.

Darren. Sorry just got back from 2 weeks leave today.

There is a company called the Enabler Group who builds great little adapters for BizTalk Server. They are getting great wraps around the US. You can visit their site at http://topxml.com.  There is a link in the top nav bar called BizTalk Utilities which will take you to a page for their adapters for 2004 and 2006.  There is one set of Utilities called “BizTalk Adapter for Messaging”. As per their site:

BizTalk Utilities Adapter for Messaging: The Adapter is aimed at providing BizTalk Server the ability to talk to the following Messaging Applications:

Support for the following .NET Data Providers are provided by default:

    ·         Java Messaging Services (JMS)

    ·         IBM MQSeries

Redesigned and developed to allow for integration into the new BizTalk Server 2004 Adapter Framework.

You can download trial versions of their adapter… so I suggest if you have a infrastructure somewhere where you can test the JMS services / queues then give it a burl.

Hey Chris, have you tried to use the Oracle DB adapter?!?!??!  Good luck, it has pretty much nothing usefull.  I'm sticking with the TopXML product until MSFT fixes it

    Hey Warden....
I've used many of the 2006 application adapters already... but not specifically the Oracle DB adapter yet (no project need).
Can you shed a little more light? What were you trying to achieve with the adapter....?
Let us all (the community) know what you've experienced....

The sample orchestration works fine, but we are trying to do something that is useful in the real world.  That is, receive XML as defined by the business, map pieces into a WHERE clause, then send the query to the adapter.  We are receiving XML parsing errors in the send pipeline (Root element missing.)  We've been stuck here for awhile.  Whatever message we've created, it's obviously missing something.  The sample receives the incoming XML as *.Query type and passes it through that way.  We are trying to build the *.Query message type without any success.
