Well until I hire someone it is nothing more then a requisition to hire someone. Give it a pulse and then he/she is a member of the team, but that is semantics. Clearly this isn't an intersting role for you, but I wouldn't knock the technical marketing folks in our group. Most of us were/are dev's from past jobs or even from the product teams here at Microsoft themselves. Remember, developer marketing isn't consumer marketing -- getting credibility with developers means being a developer, of which my team is. Everyone I hire needs to have extremely strong technical skills -- strong enough to get hired on the product teams + they need to have amazing business and analysis skills and softer skills for giving top notch presentations, content development, business development, community interaction and more. But I don't think I need to defend my team and the work we do -- if you use ASP.NET and Visual Studio we are doing our job :) and you probably don't even know that our work has touched you. Ever read an article on MSDN? Visit www.asp.net? Go to one of the ASP.NET roadshow events (anywhere in the world?) go to a teched? pdc? going to mix? downloaded an atlas preview? used any of the speed boat releases? used or explored a starter kit? used the design center templates? gotten help from the quickstarts? used the guided tour? received a resouce kit? completed a hands on lab? taken a virtual lab? attended a web cast? well you get the point.Anonymous
