Visual Studio Team Test Edition wins STP Magazine's Tester’s Choice poll …

In my last post I had talked in details about the Load Testing feature of Visual Studio Team System, and it is an interesting coincidence that STP magazine has just announced it’s annual testers choice awards, and VSTS took the top spot in two categories - winning over load runner for ".NET Performance Testing", and for "Integrated Test/Performance Suite". Here are couple of snippets from the report.

“For testing performance of .NET applications, testers this year
chose Microsoft VISUAL STUDIO TEAM SYSTEM EDITION
SOFTWARE TESTER, moving it up from its second-place finish
last year to trade places with HP LoadRunner”

and

“ … testers in 2008 told us they are quite fond of VISUAL STUDIO TEAM EDITION SOFTWARE TESTER, this year’s winner in the
Integrated Test and Performance Suite category”

I am very proud about the recognition that performance testing solution has got. Ed Glas and his team have built an absolutely world class product. For what ever reasons, this product seems to have been one of our best kept secrets :-). It is great to now see the industry come forth with its recognition now.

Within Microsoft, the product is used for performance testing our key web properties and assets across the company. The table below shows some of the teams that are benefitting from our product.

The internal adoption has also underscored the industrial strength and enterprise readiness of the solution. For example, the MSTV team has used Visual Studio’s Load Test feature to validate their IPTV pods, with each servicing more than 100,000 customers for such clients like AT&T, Tel Italia, and Bell Canada. In another interesting statistic shared by the Ad Center team, a recent twelve hour product test for them generated 3.63 Billion requests with more than 84,000 average requests per second!

This truly is an awesome product. Try out this product today for your performance testing needs, and let us know if you need any guidance.
