The value of DEVPKEY_DeviceClass_Name is set by an INF AddReg directive that is included in the INF ClassInstall32 section that installs the class. To set the friendly name for a class, use an AddReg directive to set the (Default) registry entry value for the class.

You can call CM_Get_Class_Property or SetupDiGetClassProperty to retrieve the value of DEVPKEY_DeviceClass_Name.

Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 support this property, but do not support the DEVPKEY_DeviceClass_Name property key.
