You can call CM_Get_DevNode_Property or SetupDiGetDeviceProperty to retrieve the value of DEVPKEY_DEVICE_DeviceDesc.

You can retrieve the value of the DEVPKEY_NAME device instance property to retrieve the name of the device as it should appear in a user interface item.
