Contoso Retail's objective is to continually improve how employees access information and collaborate, with the ultimate goal of enhancing customer experience. Their aim is to maintain their commitment to exceptional customer service by adopting a digital-first approach. This approach empowers their employees with modern, digital tools that simplify their tasks.

Contoso Retail's goal is to use copilot template for store operations on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to streamline operations on the shop floor, allowing their store associates to focus more on customers and faster sharing of insights across the organization.

In this exercise, you assume the role of Reed Smith, the Microsoft Power Platform System Administrator. You complete the deployment and setup of copilot template for store operations or AI store operations. You also set up the copilot template for store operations so that various personas can use it in the forthcoming modules.

Prerequisites to deploy copilot template for store operations on Azure OpenAI Service

You need to meet the following prerequisites to deploy copilot template for store operations:

  • Ensure that you have Microsoft Power Apps admin credentials.

  • Make sure that you have an active Microsoft Azure subscription.

  • Ensure that you deploy and configure Store operations. Complete the learning path Get started with Store operations in Microsoft Cloud for Retail to ensure that you can set up and use copilot template for store operations with all sample data required for performing the exercises in the forthcoming modules.

Prerequisites to set up and configure copilot template for store operations on Azure OpenAI Service

You need to meet the following prerequisites to set up and configure copilot template for store operations:

  • A Microsoft Azure Cognitive Search resource. To create one, see Create a search service in the portal - Azure Cognitive Search.

  • A Microsoft Azure Blob Storage container with your retailer-specific documents uploaded. To create a storage container, see Quickstart: Upload, download, and list blobs with the Azure portal and Manage blob containers using Azure CLI - Azure Storage.

  • Upload retailer-specific documents in the Azure Blob Storage container for the Q&A feature. Go to Storage accounts and select your storage account. Select the relevant container in the storage account and then upload documents. To upload documents, see Upload a block blob. The document types currently supported are .txt, .md. .html, .docx, .pptx and .pdf.

  • An Azure AI Search resource with semantic ranker subscription turned on.

    • To create an Azure AI Search resource, see Create an OpenAI resource - Microsoft Azure.

    • To turn on the semantic ranker subscription, open Microsoft Azure. Go to the Azure AI Search instance. Select Settings > Semantic ranker (Preview) and then turn on Semantic ranker subscription with your subscription plan.

    Important

    If you select AI Store Assistant ARM Template during the copilot template for store operations deployment, the system creates the Azure Cognitive Search, Azure Blob Storage Container, and Azure AI Search resources during the deployment process. You only need to turn on Semantic ranker subscription.
