Running the test

Before you run the test, complete the test setup as described in the test requirements: Graphic Adapter or Chipset Testing Prerequisites.

Note

If you run the DXGI Presentation testing - Other - multihead or DXGI Presentation testing - Other - multihead (WoW64) test on a system without multiple monitors, you will be prompted to add a second monitor. If your device family does not support multimon, select "Continue" to force the test to run in single monitor configuration. Some tests can only be run on systems with multiple monitors, in which case the test will be skipped.

Troubleshooting

For troubleshooting information, see Troubleshooting Device.Graphics Testing.

More information

The test creates swap chains, both full-screen and within windows. It also creates back buffers in all supported back buffer formats, by using dimensions that match or differ from those of the output window. Because of this variety, the test comprehensively tests stretching and color-converting Present operations. Full-screen test cases make use of both flip-based and copy-based Present operations.

The test also verifies that the different DirectX Graphics Infrastructure (DXGI) swap effects are implemented correctly. It uses timing-based test cases to verify the correct implementation of presentation intervals.

The test automatically verifies presented images by using the IDXGIOutput::GetDisplaySurfaceData method to retrieve the images. It compares these images with the surfaces that were used to initialize the back buffers.
