Report Parameter Properties Dialog Box, Available Values (Report Builder 3.0)

Select Available Values on the Report Parameters dialog box to choose a set of values that are available for the report parameter and how users select them.

Options

  • None
    By default, this option is selected before you choose the report parameter value.

  • Specify values
    Select a value or a set of values for the report parameter.

  • Add
    Appears when you choose the Specify values option. Click to add a new report parameter value.

  • Delete
    Appears when you choose the Specify values option. Click to delete a report parameter value.

  • Up arrow
    Click to move the available value up in the list.

  • Down arrow
    Click to move the available value down in the list.

  • Label
    Appears when you choose the Specify values option. Type text that is displayed to the user as an available report parameter. When the user clicks the label in the list, the value specified in Value is used in the report parameter. Click the Expression*(fx)* button to edit the expression.

  • Value
    Appears when you choose the Specify values option. Type a value that can be used as a report parameter value. Click the Expression*(fx)* button to edit the expression.

  • Get values from a query
    Retrieve a value or set of values from a data source.

  • Dataset
    Appears when you choose the Get values from a query option. Choose a dataset from which to retrieve a value or set of values for the report parameter. For more information about how to define a dataset, see Adding Data to a Report (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS).

  • Value field
    Appears when you choose the Get values from a query option. Choose a field from which to obtain the value or set of values. The available fields are retrieved from a list of field names in the dataset.

  • Label
    Appears when you choose the Get values from a query option. Choose a field from which to obtain a list of labels to display to the user for the values. The available fields are retrieved from a list of column or fields names in the dataset.
