Alert Name:   Access Services failed to load calculation library

Event ID:   17

Summary:   Access Services in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 depends on a critical DLL file, ascalc.dll, to enable caching of session information and queries.

Symptoms:   One or more of the following symptoms might appear:

  • Access Services fails to start or fails to create Access Services applications.

  • This event appears in the event log: Event ID: 17 Description: Failed to load ASCalc.dll <path to file>.

Cause:   The ascalc.dll file became corrupt or is not present on disk.

Resolution:   Repair the installation

  1. Run setup for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 , and select the option to repair the installation.

  2. Complete any required setup wizard processes.
