What's new in Fundraising and Engagement December 2, 2022

Important

Fundraising and Engagement is being retired. Support for Fundraising and Engagement will end at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on December 31, 2026. For more information, go to What’s new in Fundraising and Engagement.

We updated Fundraising and Engagement for both Dynamics and Azure services to align with the recent Azure platform changes.

This minor release also introduces improvements and bug fixes for donation import.

Important

Fundraising and Engagement comprises Dynamics 365 and Azure services. We highly recommend that nonprofit organizations and partners upgrade both Fundraising and Engagement Dynamics 365 solution and Azure services to version 2.1.3.2 to take advantage of the latest improvements.

Fundraising and Engagement versions older than 2.1.3.2 are based on an older .NET version. The software and services on these older versions will function as expected. However, you should consider the effects of being out of support with the Azure platform. These effects can include no new features, security updates, or performance optimizations. We highly recommend upgrading to version 2.1.3.2. For more information about Azure versions, go to Azure Functions runtime versions overview.

Item How it worked before How it works now
Azure migration to .NET 6.0 Fundraising and Engagement used Azure functions based on a previous version of .NET and Azure Functions used version 3.x runtime and runtime inside (.NET 5.0, .NET Core 3.1). The Azure platform is removing support for the previous .NET version currently used in Fundraising and Engagement Azure services. This updated version of Fundraising and Engagement is now based on .NET 6.0 and Azure Functions runtime version 4.x, which the Azure platform supports.

For more information about the announcement of .NET deprecation, go to Extended support for Microsoft .NET Core 3.1 will end on 13 December 2022.

For more information about the migration of Azure Functions runtime from version 3.x to version 4x, go to: Migrate apps from Azure Functions version 3.x to version 4.x.
Azure Application Insights migration Application Insights classic resource was used. Application Insights are moved to a new workspace-based model. A Log Analytics workspace is created in the destination resource group.

For more information about migration, go to Migration process.

We create the Log Analytics workspace resource inside the destination resource group. The bring-your-own-workspace scenario isn't supported.
Donation import localization improvements Previously, your Dynamics 365 data format had to be set to English (United States) to ensure that dates and donation amounts were imported properly. Now donation import parses files according to your regional data format settings.

Important

Users with access to Fundraising and Engagement may work with sensitive data. We recommend that administrators and users enable multi-factor authentication to increase the security of their environment.
