Uninstalling ASP.NET

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

On Windows Server™ 2003, you can use the Configure Your Server wizard or use the Add or Remove Programs dialog box in Control Panel to disable or uninstall ASP.NET.

Note

There are specific issues that you need to understand if you are uninstalling a version of ASP.NET from a server with multiple versions. For more information, see Managing Multiple Versions of ASP.NET on MSDN.

The following procedures describe how to remove ASP.NET and the .NET Framework from all server platforms that support them. You might also need to uninstall to troubleshoot an installation of ASP.NET.

Procedures

To uninstall ASP.NET from a computer running Windows Server 2003 using the Configure Your Server wizard

  1. From the Start menu, click Manage Your Server; in the Manage Your Server window, click Add or remove a role.

  2. In the Configure Your Server wizard, click Next, and in the Server Role dialog box, clear Application Server (IIS, ASP.NET), and then click Next.

  3. When the setup program is complete, click Finish.

To uninstall ASP.NET and the .NET Framework from a computer running Windows Server 2003

  1. From the Start menu, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.

  2. In the Currently installed programs box, click Microsoft .NET Framework (language) version, and then click the Change/Remove button.

Note

In the program name, language is a placeholder that represents the language of the version of the .NET Framework that you want to remove from your server, and version represents the version number of the installation you want to remove from your server.

  1. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Yes.

  2. Answer any questions from the setup program.
