Centralized Binary Logging

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

Centralized binary logging was designed to log as much information as possible while using the least amount of system resources. Therefore, numeric identifiers, which are called indexes, are substituted for variable-length strings in key fields. The indexes map the variable-length string to the logged identifier. When centralized binary logging is enabled, every site hosted on a server running Internet Information Services (IIS) sends raw log data to a single file.
