  1. Open Device Manager.

  3. On the Advanced Settings tab, make the appropriate changes, and then click OK.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • To open Device Manager, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, double-click Computer Management, and then click Device Manager.

  • The Advanced Settings tab might not appear for all IDE controller devices.

  • Some of the advanced settings for IDE controllers are device dependent. Read the device manufacturer's instruction manual to determine which settings you can change.

  • You will not be able to change the setting in Device Type if the system has already detected an IDE device on an IDE channel. This prevents you from selecting None, which would disable the IDE device. If you want to disable the device, see Related Topics.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
