Send Feedback

In the IPv6 test lab, configure ROUTER2, which is the Windows 2000 Server computer, to route packages between Subnet2 and Subnet3. For information about how to perform these steps, see the Windows 2000 Server desktop documentation.

To configure ROUTER2

  1. On ROUTER2, install the computer as a workgroup computer. Set the Administrator password.
  2. Restart the computer and then log on as Administrator.
  3. Install the IPv6 protocol.
  4. Configure the TCP/IP protocol for the interface on Subnet 2 using the following addresses:
    • IP address: 10.0.2.2
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Default gateway: 10.0.2.1
  5. Configure the TCP/IP protocol interface on Subnet 3 using the following addresses:
    • IP address: 10.0.3.1
    • Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
  6. Enable IP forwarding by setting the IPEnableRouter value under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms\IpEnableRouter registry key equal to 1.
  7. For these changes to take effect, reboot the computer.
