Personal Area Networking (PAN) Profile (Windows CE 5.0)
The Personal Area Networking (PAN) profile depends on the Generic Access Profile (GAP) and defines a set of roles and a set of mandatory procedures and capabilities that a device must support for each role.
The PAN profile defines the following roles, and how each of these roles can interact.
For example the PAN profile defines how a PANU can use a NAP or a GN service to exchange data, or conversely, how a NAP or a GN can offer services to a PANU. The profile also defines how a PANU can have a direct connection with another PANU in a personal area network. All data exchange with the network is done by using the Bluetooth Network Encapsulation Protocol (BNEP).
