DirectShow provides the foundation for multimedia support in Windows Embedded CE. A Windows Media application either has the Window Media Player control embedded within it or communicates through COM with the DirectShow Filter Graph Manager interfaces (sometimes directly with the filters themselves). In either case, DirectShow manages the flow of data from the source to the hardware.
