The metadata that describes a Catalog item is contained in a .pbcxml file, which is based on an XML schema. When you choose to open a .pbcxml file, it will by default open in the Catalog Editor, which is part of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 environment.
You can use the Catalog Editor to view and to modify the metadata that is associated with a Catalog item.
