Enterprise Web Pad Design Template (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

You can use the Enterprise Web Pad design template for creating Web pads. A Web pad is a portable device that connects to the Internet and uses a mouse-based user interface (UI) or stylus-based touch screen and UI.
Overview
The Enterprise Web Pad design template provides the necessary support structure for Internet-based applications for a Web pad. This includes communications and networking functionality.
The Enterprise Web Pad design template also includes enterprise-compatible networking services for richer integration into the Enterprise IT infrastructure. The following list shows examples of enterprise-compatible networking services:
- Network user interface applications
- TCP/IP
- Windows Sockets (Winsock)
- Distributed application development
- Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)
When you use the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard in Platform Builder, select the Enterprise Web Pad design template to create a starting point for a Web pad. Then, customize the operating system (OS) design to fit your needs.
Because of the variety of different types of Web pads, the Catalog items that you use to configure your OS design can vary.

Enterprise Web Pad Catalog Items
The Enterprise Web Pad design template is in the PDA Device category in the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard.
This design template provides the basic functionality for a Web pad with a touch-screen user interface (UI) and a 640 x 480 or larger display.
By default,Platform Builder includes a specific set of Catalog items in the OS design when you use the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard to create an OS design based on the Enterprise Web Pad design template..
After you finish with using the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard, you can add other Catalog items to your OS design. For more information, see Adding an Item from the Catalog.

Included Catalog Items
The following Catalog items are included in the Enterprise Web Pad OS design created by using the Windows Embedded CE OS Design Wizard.
Default Catalog items that are included in the design template do not appear in the wizard. Recommended Catalog items appear as selected in the wizard. You can remove these default recommendations by clearing the associated check boxes in the wizard, if it is necessary.
