IPv6 Implementations (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

This section covers the implementations shown in the following table.

Implementation Description
Single Subnet with Link-Local Addresses Supports the installation of the IPv6 protocol on at least two nodes on the same network segment without intermediate routers.
IPv6 Traffic Between Nodes on Different Subnets of an IPv6 Internetwork Includes two separate network segments (also known as links or subnets), and an IPv6-capable router that connects the network segments and forwards IPv6 packets between the hosts.
IPv6 Traffic Between Nodes on Different Subnets of an IPv4 Internetwork Supports IPv6 traffic that is carried as the payload of an IPv4 packet (treating the IPv4 infrastructure as an IPv6 link-layer) without the deployment of IPv6 routers.
IPv6 Traffic Between Nodes in Different Sites Across the Internet (6to4) Supports the 6to4 tunneling technique. The IPv6 traffic is encapsulated with an IPv4 header before it is sent over an IPv4 internetwork such as the Internet.

For information about how to set up an configure an IPv6 test lab internal to your facility, see How to Set Up and Use an IPv6 Test Lab. For information about how to test IPv6 connectivity on the test Internet (6bone), see Connecting to the Test Internet (6bone). This experimental IPv6 network is layered on top of portions of the physical IPv4-based Internet.
