IVsTextStreamMarker.Invalidate Method
Prevents a text marker from appearing in the user interface.

If the method succeeds, it returns S_OK. If it fails, it returns an error code.

From textmgr.idl:
HRESULT IVsTextStreamMarker::Invalidate();
When the reference count on marker types is decremented to zero, they no longer appear. However, Invalidate must be called to ensure that the marker type is removed from the user interface.
