Known types for federated search in SharePoint Enterprise Search are:
application/sharepoint+xml
application/rss+xml
application/atom+xml
application/rssrdf+xml
These are the preferred types for the ConnectionUrlTemplate Element (Location Definition) element. However, other XML result types are supported. The ConnectionURLTemplate does not support types containing "html," however this is the preferred type for the MoreLinkTemplate Element (Location Definition) element.
