How to: Rename Queries
You can rename any query that is not currently open for editing. The following procedure assumes that the query you want to rename is closed.

Your computer might show different names or locations for some of the Visual Studio user interface elements in the following instructions. The Visual Studio edition that you have and the settings that you use determine these elements. For more information, see Customizing Development Settings in Visual Studio.
To rename a query
From the View menu, choose Solution Explorer.
In Solution Explorer, right-click the query you want to rename and click Rename in the shortcut menu that appears.
Type a new name for the query and then press Enter.
Note
It's best to retain the file extension DTQ.
