The PreferredProtocol key specifies whether the modem associated with the preferred port performs a cyclic redundancy check on the inbound and outbound data stream. This key is optional.<220> This key is ignored unless the DEVICE key is set to "modem". If the key is present, it SHOULD take one of the values in the following table.
