Business Contact Manager and Windows 10

Updating Business Contact Manager from 2010 to 2013 and change from 32bit to 64bit is easier that I thought before. Even SQL Server 2008 is working perfectly neither Microsoft tells it won't. What to do: Remove all SQL Server related stuff, and NEVER DO ANY CHANGES TO THE REGISTRY as described in other articles here. The only thing to do after that is manually remove the MSSMLBIZ Folder from \programfiles (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server. Then Reboot! After Reboot install your office, and the BCM 2013. Immediately update the SQL Instance to SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=27594. Reinstall Chart Controls: Remove Language Pack first from add/remove programs, the the chart control itself. Install English Chart Control only: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14422. And that´s it, even the loader will workl fine. You may upgrade your MSSMLBIZ Instance to SQL Server 2012 or 2014. It still will work fine. If you encounter trouble you may try this: First of all, everything has to be equal. So, only 64bit Clients may connect to an 64bit database. 64bit Clients won't connect to 32bit Databases. You'll need the same language on the clients, as on the server. What you can do is for example: You may install a german office, and an english BCM client, while you're central database was installed in english. On Windows 10, there is the same issue with SQL-Server, as it was on Windows 8. With no proper error explanation nothing works at all. If you're changing from 32bit to 64bit, you'll need to completely uninstall BCM and then SQL server 2008. After that rename the SQL Server Directory in Program Files(x86). Install Office 64bit (To get all Spreadsheets working), install BCM including SQL Server 2008.https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=36513. It will install the 64bit Database into 32bit SQL Server. So you'll need 32bit Service Pack 4, for SQL http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=44278 Server 2008. Now you'll be able to do the final update: SQL Server 2014 Express. https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=42299. Make sure to choose "Upgrade from previous versions", and use the MSSMLBIZ instance. Now you better may reinstall MS-Chart Controls, first remove existing language pack and than the chart control itself from add/remove programs section. Then download Chart Control from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14422 and install it. Here the english version will fit perfectly for all other languages. The special language file won't be needed. For all other downloads before, you may pick your local language. If you are only upgrading the 32bit version, install manually Service Pack 4 for SQL Server 2008 before SQL Server 2014 Express. I always recommend to install the advanced services version, to get Management Studio Express to trigger SQL Connection Errors. After one restart and reinstallation of Chart Controls, you'll be fine.
